How I Got Here
I grew up in Section 8 housing in West Covina. No one in my family knew the tech industry. I had no network, no safety net, no clear path forward.
What I had were people who believed in me before I had any reason to believe in myself. Three Black men who worked with computers at a time when that was extraordinary. They showed me the door existed. I had to walk through it alone.
I taught myself to code from library books and a college textbook a mentor gave me. Became a professional programmer before graduating high school. Built things that worked, things that sold, things used by millions.
I used to think I made it on my own. Now I know: I made it because someone showed me it was possible.
Everything that made me feel like an outsider? That's my advantage now.
